The FPA is the world's oldest foreign correspondents' club, and the Association's Media Awards are the only opportunity for the British media to be judged and rewarded by their international counterparts based in London.

There have been a record number of entries to this year's competition. The almost 200 entries have been judged by a panel of senior foreign correspondents who are members of the FPA, and three external judges: Kate Adie, Trevor Kavanagh and Peter Preston.

The shortlist includes entries from David Attenborough to investigative Mexican TV journalist Juan Solari, covering media as diverse as The Sun and Time magazine, on issues ranging from Climate Change to the making of a Marks & Spencer's shirt.

As well as awards for British media, there is also a category for Story of the Year by a FPA Member. This year's Foreign Press Association Media Awards shortlist represents the very best of British and international journalism.

The winners will be announced at a Gala Dinner, compered by Clive Anderson, on Tuesday 28 November at The Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, in the presence of HRH The Duke of Gloucester. Annalisa Piras, President, Foreign Press Association will host the event, where a special award will also be made for 'Dialogue of Cultures' to the organisation or individual who has excelled in promoting discussion between conflicting sides or has made the journey between different ideologies and cultures.
